Humminbird PC is a waypoint management program that is available to owners of Humminbird chartplotters and GPS/sonar combo units. Registered owners of these units can download Humminbird PC from the Humminbird website, as quickly and easily as you would download a software update for your unit. And best of all, Humminbird PC is free!
I have both Garmin and humminbird on my boat and I use the humminbird for mapping and SI, the garmin for all other sonar. No black box would be nice with the mega though. I personally would go with Garmin though. Anyone used the Lowrance Active Target? New boat coming has all Lowrance units with active target.
Humminbird wants software updated before I can send in for repair. I haven't updated a Humminbird in a while, but the last time I did it was as simple as finding the update for your graph on their website and downloading it to an SD card. Once you put the SD card in your graph and power it up, it begins updating on its own.
With Humminbird lifting the curtain on MegaLive 2, it starts the clock for Garmin and Lowrance to announce their Gen2/3 systems…I think Humminbird’s new Megalive2 requirements also give hints at what Garmin/Lowrance will be doing as well.

In doing so, I installed a Humminbird 997c Side Imaging combo at the console of my boat, and spent the better part of the past month familiarizing myself with the capabilities of this unit.
