Twelve months ago, the Lions and Vikings each had at least 14 wins and were preparing to meet in a winner-take-all Sunday Night Football matchup to conclude the 2024 regular season. Now these two teams are starting the offseason early this year after both endured disappointing seasons.

The Minnesota Vikings made several roster decisions before the official start of the offseason around the NFL.

Every NFL team has a 53-man active roster. There is also a practice squad and injured reserve openings as well. Reserve/future contracts allow players to develop while not counting against roster constraints. These players are essentially set aside for offseason workouts and training camp. On Monday the Minnesota Vikings signed eight players.
