NASA hopes to launch Artemis 2 astronauts to the moon next month, but it's going to be tight: 'This is not a rush'
CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida — NASA is about to roll its massive new Artemis 2 moon rocket out to the launch pad.
The crawler carrying the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft was built 60 years ago to haul NASA’s Saturn V rockets, then kept around for the Space Shuttle Program. Now, the vehicle is back to its original purpose of positioning Moon-bound rockets on their launch pads.
NASA’s Artemis II rocket will roll out Saturday, beginning a slow journey to the launch pad ahead of testing and the first crewed lunar mission.
