Lenovo overnighted a new dock and I now have no issues. I was able to update my display drivers and then successfully used the firmware update utility to update the dock.

I found two separate, easy to download and install softwares Lenovo Diagnostics Tool and Lenovo Update that work well. But they don't include some Lenovo Vantage functions.

It's strange that Lenovo Display Control Center only updated some of the displays and not others. They are all identical monitors which had firmware L1.1 but some got updated to L1.3 and not others.
